Misting

Misting - appears as a fine speckled coating of ink on your ink tower guards. It usually happens when long ink filaments split between roller nips. When split filaments can't be retrieved by the rotating rollers, the ends break off and become airborne.

Causes
Remedies
Running too heavy of an ink film
Lower ink setting. Switch to a stronger pigmented ink so you can achieve desired density with a thinner film.
Fountain solution pH is too high
Reduce amount of concentrate or switch to less acidic concentrate.
Fountain conductivity is too high
Remix fountain solution to lower conductivity.
Machine speed is too fast
Slow down machine for better control.
Increase water setting
As ink takes on water, it becomes shorter. By shortening the ink you will reduce the amount of misting.
Add shortening agent to ink
Consult your ink manufacturer.
Ink was over reduced
Replace ink.
