Today I want to cover a tip to the Slayer community on the effect of Calcium Slayer and Flush on Metal. Even though Calcium Slayer & Flush is odorless, fully biodegradable, contains no VOC's and has a triple 0 safety rating. Calcium Slayer is a powerful product made to destroy Calcium Carbonate/glaze in printing rollers. Calcium Carbonate is an alkaline metal and Slayer is made to go after it. Other mixed alloys it encounters can be tarnished after contact for extended period. This why it is important to Following directions and good housekeeping is a must. The second step Flush must be used to neutralize step one Calcium Slayer. With nothing in between, one of the most common mistakes being made is using Calcium Slayer and then washing up with water and solvent before using step 2 Flush. Below are some tips to avoid unintended contact.

Ink Fountain Roller/Ink Ball

Make sure to leave the Ink on your ink ball when using Calcium Slayer & Flush. This product is designed to eliminate calcium carbonate in your rollers, which is an alkaline metal. We suggest taking as many precautions as possible to keep Calcium slayer off your press metals. If any Calcium Slayer encounters metal, rinse well with water and wipe dry.

Chrome Roller/Dampeners

The tip to get this off the rollers is to turn off the wash-up blade and add hot water to the rollers. Let the press run for about a minute, then continue with your wash-up. Gum is water soluble; this will break down the sticky gum so all the contamination can be removed more easily.

  1. Step 1 Slayer

  3. Step 3 Wash-up press
  4. if needed Step 4 run hot water with blade off for 1 minute, finish wash-up.

Tips & Self-Demonstration

To help quantify the results you get from your use of Calcium Slayer & Flush.

  • After removing ink from your rollers run your hand over the rollers to feel the slickness.

  • After the wash-up feel the rollers to feel the returned tack.

  • Take a picture before and after the use of Calcium Slayer and Flush.

  • With the first use of Calcium Slayer and Flush we suggest you do three washes in a row.

  • Track your water settings before and after the wash-up.

  • Track your ink setting before and after the wash-up.
